Hollywood Ending

I am one of those people who fill in…

Favourite Movies:

  • My Best Friend’s Wedding
  • How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
  • He’s Not that Into You
  • Sex and the City
  • The Holiday
  • and so on.

Yes,  I am a die-hard rom-com movies supporter. Living in my own LA-LA land when it comes to relationships. Recently, I re-watch Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey romantic encounter in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. It got me thinking, have I been misled all these years to Hollywood ending. The girl in the movie could be me? I will find THE ONE? Let’s see…

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Ad exec Ben (Matthew McConaughey) jokes he can make any woman fall in love with him in 10 days, while Andie (Kate Hudson) is writing a story for a magazine on how to lose a guy in 10 days. Neither can complete their mission when love strikes.

Seriously? “Everything will work out” is MISLEADING. In relationships, sh*t happens and it doesn’t always fall into the way I want it to be.

Pretty Woman

Vivian (Julia Roberts) is the luckiest girl on the corner when rich businessman Edward (Richard Gere) hires her as his date for the LA social scene…and falls for her.

Seriously? Waiting for a guy to come sweep me off my feet. I rather take charge myself.

Bridget Jones’s Diary

Bridget (Renee Zellweger) has an affair with her sleazy boss (Hugh Grant); meanwhile, a dorky family friend (Colin Firth) is secretly attracted to her. After she catches her boss cheating, Bridget chooses the guy she never expected to end up with.

Seriously? Well, the idea of the not-so-perfect girl stumbling her way through social scene isn’t entirely magical but she does end up with a cute, loving and honest guy.

The Holiday

Two women, both betrayed by love and at opposite side of the world, swap houses in the hope their luck will change. Both encounter romances and a happily-ever-after…

Seriously? Ahh, the grass is always greener on the other side. A change of scenery won’t make it a perfect life!

However,

I find My Best Friend’s Wedding a little more realistic. At least the girl doesn’t get the guy in the end.

You’ve Got Mail – my favourite. The chemistry between all the actors is very good in that one. Plus, maybe it has sentimental value because I enjoyed it with my wife-to-be (now my wife)…

    :) .

Yes, occasionally, I like to watch a show where the guy and girl don’t get together. The Holiday, Lost In Translation – these have ambiguous endings. Prime was funny, but mostly because of Meryl Streep. In that show, the guy and girl didn’t end up together, either.

But on the other hand, there are silly, fun things like My Super Ex-Girlfriend. That show’s a plus because of Anna Faris and the flying shark. Hahah!
